Privacy Policy

Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

Introduction

Welcome to Read. We are committed to protecting and respecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy outlines our practices regarding the collection, use, and protection of your information when you use our mobile application, Read, available on Google Play and the App Store.

By using Read, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with any part of this policy, please do not use our application. We take your privacy seriously and strive to ensure that your personal information is protected.

Information We Collect

At Read, we prioritize your privacy and data security. We do not collect any personal data from our users. All your books, reading sessions, notes, quotes, ratings, collections, and goals are stored locally on your device and never transmitted to any server we control. Read does not require an account, sign-up, or any cloud sync.

Third-Party Services We Use

Read uses two third-party services for non-essential functionality. Both can be reviewed in their own privacy policies:

  • Open Library (operated by the Internet Archive) — when you search for a book by title, author, or ISBN, Read sends only your search query to the public Open Library API. No personal information is sent. See openlibrary.org/policies.
  • Google AdMob — Read displays advertisements through Google AdMob to keep the app free. AdMob may use your device's advertising identifier to serve ads. You can reset or disable this identifier in your device settings (Settings → Privacy → Advertising on iOS; Settings → Google → Ads on Android). See policies.google.com/technologies/ads.

Aside from these two services, Read does not communicate with any external server. Your reading data never leaves your device.

How We Use Your Information

Since we do not collect any user data, there is no information for us to use or process. Read operates entirely offline (except for the optional book search and ad serving described above), and your reading library is yours alone.

Sharing Your Information

We do not share any data with third parties because we do not collect any user data. Your reading data — books, sessions, ratings, notes, quotes, goals — remains on your device. The only outbound network calls Read makes are book search queries to Open Library and ad requests to Google AdMob, neither of which contains personal data.

Security of Your Information

The security of your data is of utmost importance to us. Although we do not collect any personal data, we employ stringent security measures to protect any information processed through our application. All data is stored locally on your device using encrypted local storage. We are committed to maintaining a secure environment for all users.

Retention of Your Information

Since we do not collect any user data, we do not retain any personal information on external servers. All application data is stored locally on your device and can be deleted at any time through the app settings, by clearing app data, or by uninstalling the application.

Children's Privacy

Our application is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 13 ("Children"). We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so that we can take steps to remove such information from our servers.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective when they are posted on this page.
